Duke University has partnered with Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture, and install a state-of-the-art LED video display at Wallace Wade Stadium, the home of Blue Devils’ football in Durham, North Carolina. The new display—one of the first 13HD video displays in college football—will be installed and operational to entertain Blue Devil fans for the 2015 football season.
“Providing our fans with the best possible in-house game experience is a priority for our planning in the new Wallace Wade Stadium,” said Mike Cragg, Duke’s Deputy Director of Athletics for Operations. “We are thrilled that we found a dynamic and state-of-the-art video board solution with our long-time partners, Daktronics.
“Duke Football has never looked better and now it will be seen in true 1080HD and bigger than ever before.”
The display will measure approximately 42 feet high-by-76 feet wide and feature a 13HD pixel layout. It will provide brightness to cut through the sun in the outdoor environment, excellent image clarity and contrast, wide-angle visibility, and multiple levels of protection from the elements.
The display features the ability to cater to fan’s expectations by highlighting live video and instant replays. It can also feed the need for additional statistics and standard scoring information by being divided into multiple sections to show a variety of content and graphics. This also provides additional space for revenue-generating sponsorships and advertisements.

Wallace Wade Stadium’s current video board display, installed prior to the 2010 football season, will be divided and installed in Koskinen Stadium, home to Duke’s men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s soccer programs, and Morris Williams Track & Field Stadium, which is currently under construction.
