Franchise Services, Inc., celebrates the 50th anniversary of the Sir Speedy brand. The first Sir Speedy location opened as a “quick-printer” in Costa Mesa, California on August 16, 1968. Just five years later it was named the fastest-growing franchise in the country. Today, the Sir Speedy brand has expanded to Sir Speedy Print, Signs and Marketing, reflecting the changing needs of the marketplace as well as the printing, signs and graphic arts industry.
From the start, the Sir Speedy brand has been synonymous with innovation and the first of many industry trends, from electronic publishing to digital printing and online ordering. The company has remained a leader for its business approach focused on: implementing innovative technologies, procuring new equipment and exploring emerging trends. Over the years Sir Speedy has expanded its product and service offerings to now include signage, integrated marketing campaigns, digital packaging, websites and e-commerce solutions, as well as serving the growing need for direct mail and mailing services, and promotional products.
“While the Sir Speedy brand grew rapidly in the 70s and 80s, in the 90s and early 2000s we established our holding company, Franchise Services, Inc., and acquired PIP Printing, MultiCopy in the Netherlands, and Signal Graphics. The combined network continues to post revenues much higher than industry averages, and many of our franchisees are experiencing significant double-digit growth due to our continued focus on signage and other marketing services,” said Richard Lowe, President and COO of Franchise Services, Inc.
