As part of its mission to deepen expertise and train the workforce of the future, the International Sign Association has released two new print-specific online learning courses and one designed to enhance all types of sign sales.
The three new courses are part of the robust lineup of online and self-paced learning courses for sign, graphics and visual communications professionals that makes up the ISA Digital Badge program. Digital badges, which can be shared on social media and professional networks, are a portable and verifiable way to showcase the skills and competencies earned. ISA’s online learning offers employers a powerful way to engage employees and reward their achievements. The Sign Industry Professional badge, earned by those who complete 70 percent of the available subject area badges, demonstrates comprehensive learning and an understanding of the broad skills needed within the sign, graphics and visual communications industry.
These new courses will help those pursuing badges or the Sign Industry Professional designation learn more about print and sales opportunities. The courses are:
Intro to Wide Format Print. Wide format printing has evolved significantly in the past few years. Retail signage, graphics, banners, building wraps, vehicle wraps and more are all printed using wide format printers. But how does the process work? What are the market areas? This course provides foundational knowledge of the wide format printing process, the inkjet technologies and insight into the market areas.
Intro to Applications. Many of today’s signs and graphics are produced using films backed with pressure-sensitive adhesive (PSA for short). Understanding these materials, their applications and related finishing technologies is key to a successful end product and critical to achieving profitability. This course will teach you about the different film types, questions to ask and what resources are available as well as the different considerations for various applications from windows to walls to vehicles.
Five Great Vertical Markets for Signs. Want a shortcut for selling signage to a vertical market (ad agencies, banks, colleges, hospitals, event planners, etc.)? Gain an understanding of their business needs and how to solve their problems and learn how to earn orders at profitable levels while developing loyal customers.
In all, nearly seventy online training courses are available as part of the ISA Digital Badge program. Courses cover a range of skills from digital signage to print. A number of companies use the training as part of their onboarding and career development plans.
The ISA Digital Badge program includes nearly two dozen print-specific courses that allow users to gain insight into color management, commercial print and vehicle wraps among other subjects. Explore the print courses at https://www.signs.org/online-learning/print.
