This past December, the animated film Migration, by Illumination and distributed by Universal Pictures, proved a hit during its run in movie theaters. Not only was word of mouth strong on this comedic adventure following a family of ducks but so too was its marketing.
For example, Spectrum Media Group, a leading provider of OOH (Out-of-Home) large format vinyl wraps, graphics, and advertising installations based in Santa Fe Springs, California, applied half wraps to eighty-five forty-foot-long Metro buses for the Los Angeles Transit Authority. (Note: A half wrap constitutes the top-to-bottom left and right sides of the vehicle.)
These bold graphics, which ran throughout December, featured the colorful cast of Migration characters, as well as an announcement about the film debuting only in theaters at Christmas.
OOH media network Outfront Media, who worked directly with the studios to design the approved half wraps, has a contract partnership with Spectrum Media Group for all wrap installations and brought them onboard this project.
ADI RD Digital Imaging printed all the graphic panels and shipped them rolled up in individual boxes directly to the installation company.
Spectrum Media Group first removed existing advertising campaign graphics from each bus before installing the new Migration bus wrap graphics. (Note: These types of advertising campaigns can vary in size—either involving full wraps, half wraps, or partial wraps.)
The company ended up using roughly 360 square feet of General Formulations’ GF 209 MetroMark™ transit vinyl per bus.
The talented team of installers employed traditional squeegee application methods. “We are a bladeless company. We use a clever cutter knife for trimming so we don’t score the bus or cause any damage,” says Bryan Papp, business development manager at Spectrum Media Group.
Thanks to their talented team of installers and experience in quick-turnaround advertising campaigns, https://www.signshop.com/news/wraps-good-cause-effect/ the company performed all the Migration bus wrap installs at Los Angeles Transit Authority properties in just five working days (as is typically stated in their contracts with Outfront Media).
