USSC Awards 2014 Scholarships

The United States Sign Council (USSC) believes that the future is in tomorrow’s business entrepreneur…or sign designer or computer genius. That’s why, for over twenty years, the USSC has funded scholarships for deserving young people.

Each year, three students are selected, and those three students can renew their scholarship of $1,000 for an additional three years (making their total scholarship $4,000). In any one year, the USSC can have twelve students that they are helping with their tuition. To date, the association has helped sixty-three students. That represents over $200,000 in scholarships.

So where does the money come from for these scholarships? From your participation—either as an attendee or as an exhibitor at Sign World International.

Each year, the Board of Directors sets aside 1 percent of the gross revenues from Sign World International to fund these scholarships. So while you are learning about all the latest products and technology, you are also helping a young person to prepare for his or her future. The association would like thank you for making it possible for the USSC to continue this important program.

Sign World International is the only show in the industry that does this!

This year’s recipients are:

* Mary Kate McCrystal from Valrico, Florida (sponsored by Creative Sign Designs of Tampa studying Graphic Design at Flagler College in Florida);

* Hayley Niland of Paramus, New Jersey (sponsored by Niland Signs studying Advertising/Marketing at Purdue University); and

* Dan Whalen of Frankfort, Illinois sponsored by Matthews Paint/Spraylat (studying Marketing at Butler University).

This year’s USSC Sign World International will be taking place October 9-11 at the Atlantic City Convention Center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
