Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, was chosen by Amherst Media to design, manufacture, and install a new out of home (OOH) digital showcase in Boston, Massachusetts. The display has been encased into the façade of the newly constructed Marriott Moxy Hotel, located in the Downtown Theater District at the intersection of Tremont and Stuart Streets.
“We are beyond excited for this long-awaited project to come to fruition,” said Mark Van Fossan, managing partner of Amherst Media. “It was a true collaboration with the City/BPDA, the hotel developer Norwich Partners and Marriott Moxy. Daktronics has once again delivered a high quality, very impactful digital sign.”
The new video spectacular measures 23 feet high-by-45.5 feet wide with a 90-degree corner to match the building’s architecture. It features 8-millimeter line spacing for crisp, clear imagery and incorporates industry-leading environmental protection to ensure functionality during all forms of weather.
The development of this project was over a decade in the making, and the installation was finally completed in early July. The newly launched sign will display a broad mix of advertising/brand marketing, public/community announcements, and messaging for the Moxy Hotel.
“This display brings the spectacular feel of Times Square to Boston’s busy downtown district,” said Steve Bayer, Daktronics special projects director. “We’re honored to be selected for this project and to bring this new visual showcase to Boston. The sign is already turning heads and making a positive difference for brands and advertisers.”
The digital technology allows for the quick and easy transition from one message to another as it gives dynamic exposure and attention to passersby.
