Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, has partnered with Ovation Hollywood, formerly known as Hollywood & Highland, in conjunction with Consumer Experience Group (CEG), to manufacture and deliver two LED video displays to their shopping center and entertainment complex owned jointly by DJM Capital Partners and Gaw Capital USA in Los Angeles, California.
Installation was completed on time and within budget early in 2023 and the displays activated upon the completion of an extensive multiyear remodel of the shopping center. The displays are now featuring off-site marketing, on-site marketing and sponsorships, and experiential and entertainment content.
The shopping mall and entertainment center now known as Ovation Hollywood sits at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Highland Avenue in the Hollywood district of Los Angeles and is at the nexus of the Hollywood Walk of Fame, the TCL Chinese Theatre as well as the El Capitan Theatre.
Since its inception in 2001, Ovation Hollywood has transformed into a successful 463,000-square-foot, five-story outdoor destination featuring shopping, dining, and entertainment, welcoming more than 25 million visitors annually.
“It’s been a pleasure working with Daktronics and CEG on the project to implement and execute our vision of digital displays at Ovation Hollywood,” said Kristofer Golder, vice president of development for DJM Capital Partners, Inc. “Daktronics and CEG are reliable partners and supported us throughout the process—from conceptual design, engineering, permitting, and installation and turnover.
“We look forward to continuing our business relationship and working together on future digital display endeavors.”
“Working with DJM Capital to select and install Daktronics’ displays was a great experience,” said Jeremy Kolieb, principal at CEG. “Daktronics’ professional project management coupled with the best technology in the industry makes Ovation Hollywood shine.”
The larger of the two LED video displays, the Tower Arch display, features a 6-millimeter pixel spacing and measures approximately 18 feet high-by-31 feet wide. It is positioned near the top of an archway for maximum exposure to audiences as they move about the entertainment complex.
The second display, Core Portal display, is mounted above a main entryway. It features a 3.9-millimeter pixel spacing and measures nearly 6 feet high-by-31 feet wide. These displays feature industry-leading environmental protection ensuring they operate as expected in the California weather.
“DJM Capital has a passion for providing a world-class retail experience and assisting them to completely transform Ovation Hollywood has been a wonderful experience,” said Daktronics Managing Director of Spectaculars Division Josh Francois. “The partnership between CEG and DJM worked smoothly to ensure the best technology was deployed to enhance the development.”
These LED video displays can show any graphics, animations, and branding messages for sponsors of the retail center. The versatility of these digital signs allows them to be update and change messages at the click of a button or at a moments’ notice. The content can be adjusted to supplement current events or seasonal content.
