3D Systems has announced a breakthrough step towards the democratization of the 3D-printed lifestyle with the immediate availability of its popular 3DMe® and Sense™, consumer applications on select all-in-one, 2-in-1 and laptop PCs equipped with the new Intel® RealSense™ 3D Camera. This is the first integrated camera that sees in three dimensions, making it an ideal match for 3DMe and Sense applications. Together with Intel RealSense technology, 3DMe and Sense apps bring new, immersive 3D content creation tools to PC users of any level.
This powerful combination of easy-to-use 3D capture and editing functions, makes it easy for everyone—from kids to grandparents—to digitize cherished keepsakes on the go, instantly
share animations via social channels, and create printable 3DMe selfies.
“With Intel RealSense technology consumers can control and interact with their computers in a natural, intuitive and immersive way,” said Mooly Eden, senior vice president, Intel and General Manager, Perceptual Computing Group. “At Intel, we believe 3D scanning and printing is going to be a game changer for consumers, educators, and makers.
“We are thrilled to be working with 3D Systems to jointly apply our integrated 3D camera technology to enable the creation of 3D personalized animation and printed collectibles and selfies everywhere.”
The new 3DMe app will come preloaded on select Acer and Dell PCs, including the Acer V 17 Nitro notebook series, the Dell Inspiron 15 5000 series, and the Dell Inspiron 23 7000 series. The Sense and 3DMe apps can also run on a range of PC’s which feature the Intel RealSense 3D Camera from Lenovo, HP, Asus, Fujitsu and NEC. “Acer believes three-dimensional computing offers unlimited potential for both professional and consumer uses,” said Jerry Kao, president of Acer Notebook Business Group. “3DMe is one of several applications that take 3D technology to a new level, with more to come.”
3DMe, the only app of its kind, transforms users into a one-of-a-kind 3D-printed collectible, like a super hero, a sports star, or a favorite character from a movie. All it takes is a quick face scan and 3DMe creates a customized figurine of their choice, including licensed figurines from Ghostbusters, Star Trek, NBA, and more. Users can watch their personalized character come to life in a fully animated virtual setting, directly purchase 3D printed figurines, and share them on
social media.

3DS’ Sense 3D scanning app unleashes the power of physical photography. Leveraging the power of the Intel RealSense 3D Camera, anyone can capture 3D models of objects with ease. With simple capture and editing tools, Sense generates 3D printable scans in as little as fifteen seconds.
Fully integrated with the Cubify print app for Android and iOS and Cubify.com, the Sense app uploads scans directly for 3D printing, either at home or through the cloud.
3DMe designed with Intel RealSense technology can be experienced as part of the interactive Intel Retail experiences in select nationwide Best Buy and Microsoft stores this spring. 3DS is also showcasing its flagship consumer 3D printer, Cube 3, printing live in stores featuring the Intel Experience.
