When Cambridge, Ontario-based Cambridge Patterns, a pattern and machine part manufacturer, was experiencing problems hiring enough skilled employees, they knew they needed to become less reliant on manual labor. They turned to AXYZ International for a new router.
Cambridge chose an AXYZ 5012 CNC Router, customized with a larger work area and higher gantry for increased capacity. The router was installed in December of 2012 and quickly paid for itself.
“We’ve increased our output in certain areas of our product line by 10 percent,” says Ian Goodhand, owner and president of Cambridge Patterns. “The AXYZ 5012 has also provided [Cambridge Patterns] with an increased customer base in certain markets which were not possible prior to the purchase of the machine.”
Additionally, the AXYZ 5012 decreased their lead times in their existing markets, which allowed for an increase in production, and the company has already seen their profits boosted by a healthy 10 percent.
“AXYZ is proud that our 5012 Router helped Cambridge Patterns both solve their skilled labor problem and expand their business to new markets,” says Robert Marshall, vice president of market development for AXYZ. “Our CNC Routers are our cornerstone product and we’ve built and installed more than 9,000 to date for many happy customers who, like Cambridge, require maximum efficiency and superior manufacturing results.”
AXYZ’s range of CNC Routers come in 4000, 5000, 6000, 8000, and 10000 Series machines in a wide range of configurations. The AXYZ 5000 Series machines can process materials up to 72 inches wide, with standard lengths starting at 120 inches, making them the ideal choice for oversized sheets of wood, plastic, and aluminium.
