Sign Shop Illuminated in Colorado Springs, Colorado recently had the honor of creating the Hall of Fame induction signage for Todd Helton, the legendary former first baseman for the Colorado Rockies. A CNC-routed plaque now hangs in the outfield alongside the Rockies’ NL Pennant, Jackie Robinson’s famous #42, the initials of former Rockies’ President Keli McGregor and Hall of Famer Larry Walker’s plaque.

The Rockies have been a longtime client of Sign Shop Illuminated, and the shop enjoys doing custom work for the baseball team.

“This customer has been an extremely special one to everyone here as there are only so many opportunities to partner with your local professional baseball team,” says Sign Shop Illuminated Managing Partner Louis DeSantis. “When we get the chance to work on projects of this nature, it’s truly memorable.”

The outfield plaque was made from CNC-routed aluminum with pan channel letters for the characters, while Helton’s personal signage was crafted using CNC-routed acrylic. Both creations use hand-laid 24K gold leaf for the outer ring, which signifies the Hall of Fame status.

To ensure the gold leaf will keep its shine for more than a decade, Sign Shop Illuminated layered several coats of clear coat to protect it and add some depth with a high-gloss finish to the plaque.
