Rupp Arena has called on Daktronics (NASDAQ-DAKT) of Brookings, South Dakota, to design, manufacture, and install new LED video displays for each corner of their facility and a 360-degree ribbon display along the seating fascia to excite patrons during events held at the facility, including University of Kentucky Wildcat basketball games. Installation of the new displays is currently taking place in Lexington, Kentucky.
According to Bill Owen, president and CEO of the Lexington Center, “These state-of-the-art video installations will enhance Rupp Arena’s sports and concert fans’ experiences and they will also lead to significant increases in revenue which is vital to the operations of Rupp Arena, the Lexington Convention Center, Opera House, and Triangle Park.”
The four new video displays each measure more than 18 feet high-by-25 feet wide and feature 6 millimeter line spacing for excellent image clarity and contrast with wide-angle visibility to appeal to every seat in the house.
These displays feature variable content zoning which allows them to show one large image or they can be divided into different windows to show any combination of live video, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics, game information, graphics, animations, and sponsorship messages.
“Daktronics is excited to further our long-term partnership with Rupp Arena,” said Daryl Mihal, Daktronics sales representative. “The recent upgrades will only add to the outstanding game-day atmosphere of this great historic arena.”
The installation of the corner displays comes on the heels of Daktronics installing a 360-degree LED ribbon display at Rupp Arena in the summer of 2015. The ribbon display measures 3 feet high and spans the circumference of the arena, roughly 900 feet. It features 15 millimeter line spacing and provides the opportunity to highlight sponsors throughout events as well as show content to supplement the main video displays.
