Daktronics of Brookings, South Dakota, designed, manufactured and installed a new LED video display at Al Lang Stadium in St. Petersburg, Florida, for the Tampa Bay Rowdies professional soccer team. Installation of the display was completed in early April.
“The new video scoreboard has made a tremendous impact at our stadium,” said Rowdies Principal Owner Bill Edwards. “During the renovation process, fan comfort and enjoyment was always at the top of my list. With this video board fans see all the action on the field, see replays for the first time and love seeing themselves on the Fan Cam! It has added an entirely new dimension to our game experience.”
The new display measures 18 feet high-by-48 feet wide and features a 13HD pixel layout. It provides excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility ensuring every seat in the stadium has a great view. It features variable content zoning which allows for one large image across the entire display or multiple windows to show a variety of content at once. It will be capable of showing live video, instant replays, scoring and statistical information, graphics and animations, and sponsorship messages.
“We are grateful that the Tampa Bay Rowdies selected Daktronics to provide a new 13HD video display for their newly renovated stadium,” said Mike Kempany, Daktronics sales representative. “It is an exciting time for the team and we are honored to be part of their new look! Setting the bar high, they opted for the highest resolution 13HD Daktronics display. This matches few, and exceeds many, in terms of resolution seen in other professional stadiums. This technology, combined with their professional front-end production system, will prove to be a showcase venue that will provide the best in fan experience.”
In addition to the equipment installation, the Rowdies also received digital content produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services. This content consist of display layouts, a team opening animation, a team matchup template, a head shot template and crowd prompts.
Three standard locker room clocks were also installed at the stadium by Daktronics.
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology features industry-leading environmental protection for long lifetime with consistent performance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
