Northwestern Pennsylvania’s Erie Insurance Arena will excite fans with their new video display equipment designed, manufactured and installed by Daktronics Inc., of Brookings, South Dakota. The displays that were installed this summer will help Erie Insurance Arena provide high quality entertainment solutions for the facility.
John Casey Wells, executive eirector of the Erie County Convention Center Authority, stated, “We are thrilled with the new scoreboard and ribbon displays. They will greatly enhance the fan experience and better serve our teams and advertisers. The system has exceeded our expectations.”
The centerhung features four video displays, each measuring approximately 8 feet high-by-14.5 feet wide and featuring 6 millimeter line spacing. These displays have the capabilities to show one large image to highlight live video and instant replays. They can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics, scoring information, and sponsor advertisements.
Below the main displays is a bottom ring display measuring 2 feet high-by-48 feet wide. This display will supplement content shown on the main displays and show additional statistics, game information, and advertising.
Two ribbon displays were also included with the installation, each measuring approximately 2 feet high-by-9 feet wide and featuring 10 millimeter line spacing. The ribbon displays will also showcase sponsors, statistics, game prompts and other information that will add to the arena experience.
Erie Insurance Arena also received four endwall displays. Two of the displays measure approximately 3 feet high-by-22 feet wide and feature 10 millimeter line spacing. The other two displays measure approximately 5 feet high-by-7 feet wide and also feature 10 millimeter line spacing. All four of these displays will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and keep fans updated on statistics and game information.
All of the displays installed at the arena incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility, making the best possible experience available for every fan at various events.
Erie Insurance Arena was built in 1983 and recently went under a $47 million renovation and expansion. This multi-purpose facility can host 9,000 fans and is home to the OHL Erie Otters, NBA D-League Erie BayHawks, SIFL Erie Explosion, and many various concerts, shows, graduations and other community events.
“Daktronics is very proud to continue our relationship with the Erie County Convention Center Authority on this great project at Erie Insurance Arena,” said Scott Wilson, Daktronics sales representative. “The new centerhung and auxiliary displays will have a tremendous impact on the game-day experience for the fans. We look forward to opening night to see everything live.”
The arena also received two scoreboards and a DakStats® interface system. Dakstats is the premier software for managing game, season and career statistics. This system tracks live game stats and compiles in-depth statistical reports.
In addition to the equipment installation, the Erie Insurance Arena will also receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services. This content will consist of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens, and venue announcements.
