Inca Digital announces the launch of a new-generation ‘Scaleable Architecture’ platform for the prestigious Inca Onset Series of large-format, flatbed UV printers, which are sold globally by Fujifilm. Onset Scaleable Architecture uses an innovative modular design, developed by Inca, that gives Onset users the power to evolve the productivity/color specifications of their printers – on-site – to match their budget and changing business needs.
By designing a new modular Onset platform with the ability to adapt ink tanks, printheads, UV curing lamps, automation, speed modes, electronics and software Inca is setting a new versatility standard in high-end flatbed printing.
Onset Scaleable Architecture allows companies to keep pace with developments and maximize ROI. It allows them to tailor the best printer for their initial requirements, but with considerable flexibility to convert quality, speed and ink options whenever they wish. For example, a company with a 4-colour, manual, 300sqm/hr (3,229sqft/hr), or a six-color, semi-automatic, 560sqm/hr (6,028sqft/hr) printer can add and swop colors up to a total of eight in a variety of combinations, including lights and whites. They can also boost productivity speeds in increments up to a maximum 725sqm/hr (7,803sqft/hr) as their print volumes grow.
Furthermore, the new Onset Scaleable Architecture design enables Inca to streamline manufacturing and will reduce lead time from order to build by 25 per cent, allowing Inca to respond more quickly to market demand.
In addition to using Fujifilm Uvijet inks developed specifically for the Onset printers, they incorporate hardware and software technologies that have been developed by Inca to deliver industry-leading quality, reliability and productivity. These include: iNozzle mapping, sophisticated drive and control electronics; a 15-zone vacuum table to reduce bed masking requirements and, consequently, set-up time for thin substrates; a UV sensor system that accurately monitors printer condition; and substrate height detectors to prevent contact with, and damage to, printheads. Plus, Inca’s variable data Print Run Controller software module offers advanced job management and ReporterPro software gives users detailed information about the productivity of their Inca printers.
“Onset Scaleable Architecture is a dynamic ‘future-proof’ technology that protects a company’s investment for the long term and provides a highly flexible production center that can grow and change with them,” says John Mills, Inca CEO. “Since Inca launched the very first flatbed UV inkjet printer in 2000, we have continued to introduce exciting new technologies that have transformed the market for digital print. This new-generation platform is another significant development and maintains our reputation as an innovator in the world of wide-format printing.”
“It’s no longer about buying an ‘off-the-shelf’ product,” says Tudor Morgan, systems marketing manager, Fujifilm Speciality Ink Systems. “Businesses can now choose a wide-format printer with a genuinely upgradeable solution knowing it can change with them as their needs evolve, which has never really been practical in the industry before.”
The first new-generation Onset printer to be developed on the Onset Scaleable Architecture is the ultra-high productivity, dual CMYK, Onset S50i flatbed UV inkjet printer capable of printing 725sqm/hr (7,803sqft/hr). Also launched today, the S50i has already successfully completed beta testing and is already in full production at four companies – three in the USA and one in the UK – and is commercially available immediately.
With the launch of Onset Scaleable Architecture there are many different Onset variations available. This gives the display graphics market a choice of productivities and qualities, and allows companies to pick the right model at the best price and performance for their business—with the power to evolve specifications if needed.
