On Saturday, September 27, 2014, Georgia Printco, LLC held a celebratory picnic with games and prizes for its grand format manufacturing facility employees. The event was held on the grounds of the corporate office to commemorate a year of dedication and resilience to achieve goals, exceed expectations, and to reflect on a job well done.
This year, in a twist to their celebration, owners Mr. Sheldon Hurst, Jr. and Mr. Thomas Clarke, had been challenged by a number of individuals for the Facebook “Ice Bucket Challenge.” They accepted and all employees of Georgia Printco joined in. A donation in everyone’s name has been committed.
For those of you who may be unfamiliar with this challenge, it was started by a ALS marketing team as a social media campaign to raise money and awareness for ALS, also known as Lou Gehirg’s Disease. The concept is simple: You are challenged by friends, family and co-workers, etc. to take the ice bucket challenge, you fill a bucket with water and ice, you make a declaration of who challenged you and who you will challenge in return, and finally make a donation. The ice bucket represents the “paralysis” one afflicted with ALS experiences often throughout the stages of the disease.
Prior to the ceremony, Mr. Hurst, managing partner, spoke to both employees and spectators stating, “We are small business American and we are the backbone of this great country. For all of those who work hard to scratch out a living day after day, thank you for making the United States of America the greatest country on earth. I challenge all small businesses to support the less fortunate, support your city, your state and most of all the USA.
As the backbone, it is our duty, “We are Georgia Printco, and we are proud.”
