The National Bohemian beer company in Baltimore has plans to re-light it’s iconic Natty Boh sign, which once lit up the Charm City skies in a classic neon display. The sign has now been refurbished with LEDs to restore its classic glow.
On September 25, the 27-feet-tall, 30-feet-wide sign which sits atop the former National Brewing Co. building in the Brewers Hill area of Baltimore will resume illumination two years after the neon lights burned out.
“Repairing a neon of that size is extremely costly, but it also just doesn’t make sense for long-term investment and for longevity of the actual lighting,” National Bohemian brand manager Nitasha Chopra told The Baltimore Fishbowl.
As many sign professionals know, neon lights also use significantly more energy than LED, and LED offers the opportunity to change colors at the flip of a switch.
