ISA Partners to Reuse Items After Sign Expo

RepurposeAmerica LogoThrough the years, the ISA International Sign Expo has taken steps to recycle as much material as possible at the show’s end. But the 2013 Expo will take that goal even further, providing a second life for many usable materials.

Repurpose AMERICA, a Las Vegas-based non-profit, will sort through materials each day after the exhibit hall closes. It will take those repurposed items to local community groups. At other tradeshows, Repurpose America has secured carpet and paint for an early learning center and turned banners into sunshades for a non-profit that serves military veterans. Repurpose AMERICA employs former military personnel and people with disabilities, two groups that traditionally have had difficulty finding work.

To participate, exhibitors merely need to leave unwanted items in the aisles at the end of each day. At the close of the show, Repurpose AMERICA crews will visit each booth to sort through any material left behind.

“While we may have made tremendous strides in reducing our carbon footprint with ISA International Sign Expo, this will provide new uses for some of these items while making a positive impact on the community,” said Lori Anderson, president and CEO of the International Sign Expo. “This program is a win on many fronts and created in a way to make this process easy on exhibitors.”

The service is offered through the sponsorship of Neschen Americas, which manufactures and markets SEAL and Neschen brand products including wide-format roller laminators, laminating films, adhesives, digital print media and display solutions.

“We are so excited to sponsor the Repurpose AMERICA project at ISA International Sign Expo,” said Angela Mohni, vice president of marketing at Neschen Americas. “The ISA Expo offers a great opportunity to see products up close, and we’re excited to see how these products gain a second life, especially in ways that benefit the community.

“Just as many of our products are proudly manufactured in the USA, Repurpose AMERICA provides jobs for the local community while creating goods that benefit others.”

Repurpose AMERICA will create a video showing just how materials from ISA International Sign Expo 2013 are finding a new life. ISA will share that when it becomes available.

ISA International Sign Expo will be April 3-6 at the Mandalay Bay Resort and Convention Center in Las Vegas. To learn more, visit www.signexpo.org.
