Inca_LogoThe judges have been chosen for the 2012 Inca Digital Excellence Awards (IDEAS), which aim to recognize Inca users around the world who are achieving the most stunning effects using Inca’s flatbed UV technology.

The four judges are all wide format specialists who will be examining the IDEAS entries for a combination of quality, innovation, and creativity. The judges are:

  • Barney Cox, Senior Consultant at InfoTrends

Cox conducts graphic arts market research, provides forecast analysis, consults with clients, and creates editorial content for product and market analysis reports at InfoTrends. His knowledge includes digital and conventional print processes, hardware, software, services, and consumables.

“Judging the Inca IDEAS awards is a great way to experience the real world applications that digital printing technology enables,” says Cox. “I am looking forward to seeing the creative responses to client’s business challenges that PSPs from around the globe have produced.”

  • Phil Day, Director of POPAI UK & Ireland

Day has been responsible for shaping the organization’s strategic vision, growing membership, and leading the development of several step-change initiatives through a key period of transition. Phil was a central figure in the development of POPAI’s action on sustainability, which saw the launch of the POPAI Green Project in 2008 and culminated in the official launch of the POPAI Sustainability Standard in 2010.

“I’m pleased to be able to bring my experience from working with the UK’s top brands and retailers to the Inca IDEAS awards to help recognise the best of the best,” he says.

  • Stan Kilpin, Publisher of Digital Image Australia/New Zealand

As the publisher of Australia and New Zealand’s leading magazine for wide format, signage and screenprinting, Kilpin has acquired a wealth of knowledge over the past 20 years. From the early innovations into wide format, Kilpin has seen and been involved with the advances every step of the way.

“I have been privileged to see a lot of exciting innovations in wide-format in recent years and am constantly amazed at the ideas and ingenuity that can be applied to this creative industry,” he says. “I have no doubt that the Inca IDEAS Awards will produce some work of world class standards.”

  • Noel Ward, MD of Brimstone Hill Associates in the USA

Ward provides marketing and communications consulting to technology vendors and commercial, direct mail and transactional print providers. In over 25 years in digital printing, marketing communications, and research, Ward has advised leading vendors and franchises on nearly all aspects of digital printing, written hundreds of articles, blogs, and edited three leading industry publications. His primary focus is on communicating ways companies can use digital printing as a driver for business growth, productivity and efficiency.

“It’s exciting to be a judge and see the best of the best work being done,” he says.

The awards include six categories: Display Graphics, 3D POS, Retail Interiors, Decor and Furniture, Product Decoration, and Interactive Display.

To enter, printers need to submit the details of their entry into a simple online form and upload at least three images. The form can be accessed at www.incadigital.com/ideas2012.

The closing date for entries is 31st July 2012 and the results will be announced on 19th October during SGIA in Las Vegas. The prize for each category winner is a two-night stay in Las Vegas for the SGIA Expo 2012 (18th – 20th October), during which Inca will host an evening presentation event.
