LFI 2011 Institutes to Features Acclaimed Keynotes

Lightfair11-KeynoteEach year LIGHTFAIR International (LFI) raises the bar and takes lighting education, inspiration and innovation to the next level, and this year is no different.  During the 2011 Institutes, LFI will showcase two dynamic keynote presentations with renowned architect Jeanne Gang and a panel of acclaimed designers Jonathan Speirs, Mark Major and Keith Bradshaw.

The keynote luncheons, which take place during the opening days of the Conference, are designed to educate and captivate LFI Institute attendees.  The selected presenters will take center stage to provide insight and personal accounts on design projects in the United States and around the world. They will guide attendees through their celebrated designs and ideas from conception to the finished projects.

Revealing Architecture

Jeanne Gang, FAIA, LEED AP, will reference her recently published book Reveal to provide an insider’s look at the unique work and working process of Studio Gang Architects. She will have drawings, diagrams, sketches and photographs to illuminate the evolution of key projects, including the Aqua Tower in Chicago, and will discuss the importance of collaborating with specialists from a wide variety of other fields.

The Spirit of Light—The Creative Use of Light at Two Significant Religious Buildings

Jonathan Speirs (BSC DIP ARCH, RIBA, ARIAS, PLDA, FRSA, HON. FSLL), Mark Major (DIP ARCH, RIBA, PLDA, IALD, FRSA) and Keith Bradshaw (BSC ARCH, PLDA)—all of Speirs & Major—will create the first LFI keynote panel to discuss two significant religious and architectural projects: The Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nayhan Mosque in Abu Dhabi and the St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. They will provide an in-depth and highly educational presentation which will take the audience through concept to mock-ups and details through to the finished project.

The keynote presentations will be held in conjunction with the LFI Institute and the LFI Daylighting Institute, jumpstarting the educational programming for the 2011 Conference.
