The Historic Downtown Special Improvement District (HDSID) has introduced new wayfinding signage in downtown Jersey City, New Jersey. Located on the Grove Street PATH plaza in front of 116 Newark Avenue, the sign was designed by MiT Communications as a part of a broader initiative to showcase the district’s events. The sign itself was engineered and installed by Michael Sylvester of Kraftwork Custom Designs.

The HDSID is a non-profit organization that dedicates itself to the revitalization and enhancement of the historic downtown area of Jersey City. Serving as a catalyst for economic growth and community development in the area, the non-profit organizes many services from cultural events to community development programs to improve the life of Jersey City residents.

“Historic Downtown provides a wide range of exciting options for dining, shopping and spending a day with friends or a night on the town,” Director of the HDSID Rachel Sieg told TAPinto Jersey City. “The new directional signage will go a long way towards keeping residents and visitors spending their recreational dollars within Historic Downtown.”

Featuring an “easy-to-read map of the downtown district and a directory highlighting restaurants, retail and service businesses, the sign is placed for optimal visibility for people entering downtown,” according to the city. The signage provides directional information for key points of interest in Jersey City, including City Hall, the Newark Avenue Pedestrian Plaza and the PATH train station.
