Noel Yarger, chairman of North American Signs in South Bend, Indiana, was presented the Kirk L. Brimley Award for Distinguished Service during the ISA International Sign Expo in Orlando.
“No matter where he served, Noel constantly pushed to put the industry first,” said Duane Laska, chairman of the ISA board of directors in making the presentation. “He realized that a stronger sign industry benefited us all.”
Yarger was cited for his work in creating the Signage Foundation for Communication Excellence, a precursor to the Signage Foundation Inc. The Signage Foundation for Communication Excellence was one of the first in the industry to educate planners and to research the importance of signage to the business community.
Yarger is a former board member of ISA and also served as president of the World Sign Association. He has been active in the Midwest Sign Association. He took over leadership of North American Signs after his father’s death and has since passed ownership on to his son John.
“Noel is a fitting recipient of the Kirk L. Brimley Distinguished Service Award,” said Lori Anderson, ISA president and CEO. “Through his commitment to education and research, he helped lay the foundation for a strong industry. It was an honor to be able to recognize him for his important work.”
The Distinguished Service Award is presented annually as part of ISA International Sign Expo, honoring a member who has shown dedication and service to the on-premise sign industry for many years. ISA International Sign Expo is the sign industry’s largest tradeshow.
