OKI Data Americas announces that OKI Data Infotech Corporation’s SX, SX 3M™, and WX[1] inks used in conjunction with its ColorPainter™ line of wide-format printers have achieved the GREENGUARD Gold Certification for the UL 2818 – 2013 Standard for Chemical Emissions for Building Materials, Finishes and Furnishings. GREENGUARD Gold Certification helps manufacturers create – and consumers identify – products with low chemical emissions, thus improving air quality in the environments in which they are used.
This certification demands stricter health based criteria for additional chemicals and lower total VOC emissions levels to ensure that a product is acceptable for use in certain environments such as educational and healthcare facilities. In addition, the GREENGUARD Gold Certification requirements comply with the State of California’s Department of Public Health Services Standard Practice for Specification Section 01350 (California Section 01350) for testing chemical emissions from building products used in schools and other environments.
After rigorous testing for low volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in indoor environments, the certification has been applied to SX, SX 3M, and WX inks used together with specific high-quality, wide-format printers from among OKI’s expanding portfolio. The SX, SX 3M, and WX inks included in the ColorPainter M-64s wide-format printer and the SX inks included in the new ColorPainter H3-104s wide-format printer are part of this certification.
The newly-developed eco-solvent SX inks offer a wide color gamut, high vividness, high density, excellent outdoor durability and low running costs in addition to a low level of odor. These inks expand printing capabilities and improve efficiencies for the sign and graphic markets, providing rich, glossy output for indoor and outdoor use and high-resolution images on a variety of media. Overall performance of SX inks meets customer demand for higher productivity and a better workplace environment.
“OKI Data is proud to announce that SX, SX 3M, and WX inks have received the highly-respected GREENGUARD Gold Certification,” said Fabrizio Soto, General Manager of Wide Format Division at OKI Data Americas. “This accolade is a great compliment to OKI’s ColorPainter brand and growing wide-format division. The GREENGUARD certification highlights OKI’s investment to this product segment and commitment to sustainable business practices, and underscores our commitment to providing technologically-advanced products to the sign & graphic markets.”
Select devices from within the ColorPainter line will be demonstrated in OKI Data booth #2427 at the upcoming SGIA Expo in Atlanta, GA from November 4-6, 2015.
GREENGUARD Certification is part of ULTM Environment, a business unit of UL (Underwriters Laboratories). GREENGUARD certified products are certified to GREENGUARD standards for low chemical emissions into indoor air during product usage. For more information, visit UL.com/gg.
