Orbus Exhibit & Display Group®, one of North America’s leading trade suppliers of display, exhibit, and event solutions, recently partnered with Steelhead Productions and Make-A-Wish® Southern Nevada to fulfill a wish for a critically ill Las Vegas resident, Trinity Sharrer. Trinity’s wish of an outdoor play area was unveiled on October 3rd, with representatives from Orbus, Steelhead, and Make-A-Wish present.
Trinity, an eight-year-old from Las Vegas, is battling a serious neurological illness, Encephalopathy. Her disease causes Trinity to experience frequent and painful seizures that have impacted her life since the day she was born. As Trinity is non-verbal, she finds joy in simple pleasures such as sensory lights and light-up music boxes, and communicates creatively with peers and her family. Trinity has a close bond with her siblings, and desires nothing more than to play outdoors with them – exposing her to the risk of heat-triggered seizures, and something that was not possible in her backyard. Her wish was for a shaded, handicap accessible playground that included a water feature and would enable her to spend as much time as possible playing outdoors with her siblings.
Trinity’s wish came to the attention of Las Vegas-based Steelhead Productions, who wanted to help as part of their “GIVE HAPPY” program. Working with the Southern Nevada Chapter of the Make-A-Wish foundation, Steelhead chose Trinity’s wish as part of the “Adopt-a-Wish” program, and began designing a backyard play area that would fit her needs. Those needs included a play set, turf flooring, a misting system and sail-style canopies to help alleviate the strength of the Nevada sun.
Steelhead approached Orbus with the opportunity to donate the materials to form the supports and the canopies, to be printed in Trinity’s favorite color – purple. These canopies, along with the turf and play set, were installed in Trinity’s backyard, and unveiled during an event for family and friends on October 3rd. Orbus and Steelhead representatives were present to share in the reveal of the finalized project.
