Orbus Exhibit & Display Group®, one of North America’s leading trade suppliers of display, exhibit, and event solutions, recently gathered 1,200 pounds of donated goods for the South Carolina American Red Cross organization. Donated items included medical and cleaning supplies, non-perishable foods, pet food, and more. Boxes containing the donations were transported to South Carolina by several of Orbus’ local shipping partners, free of cost.
In early October, South Carolina was hit by devastating floods as a result of a slow-moving rain storm. The widespread flooding left countless victims with ruined homes, vehicles and clothing. As Orbus has an extensive customer base in South Carolina and several employees have family in the area, the company immediately sprang into action to lend aid to those in need. Over the course of two weeks, Orbus employees were encouraged to bring in needed items as identified by the American Red Cross, including drinking water, canned foods, cleaning supplies, medical supplies and personal hygiene products.
Donations were transported free of cost by several of Orbus’ freight shipping partners, who also organized monetary and item donations of their own between employees and other local customers. In total, 1,200 lbs. of supplies were sent down to South Carolina for distribution by the Stallsville, SC Methodist Church, Boy Scout Troop 750, and the local YMCA to families and individuals who were impacted by the flooding.
“We are very proud of the generosity of our employees and partners for this cause,” said Giles Douglas, president & CEO of Orbus. “We strive to give back to not only our surrounding communities but those who have been negatively impacted by natural disasters.”
