A few days ago we reported that Panasonic had sold its projector business. However, new details reveal the Japanese electronics company only sold a majority stake. Panasonic intends to keep making and selling projectors, according to Sixteen:Nine.

Japanese financial investor Orix is reported to be paying around $630 million for 80 percent of the ProAV business. Invidis reports that Panasonic will set up its own company for professional projectors, holding a 20 percent stake. The new company and its projects will continue to bear the Panasonic brand moniker.

The new company is expected to launch in April 2025. To make that happen, the Media Entertainment Business Division will be separated from Panasonic Connect, including the large-format display business. Panasonic’s factories in Japan and China will be transferred to the new company. Sales units for the business will also be formed from the regional Panasonic Connect subsidiaries.
