New FiberMate™ recyclable rigid print media will be featured at the 3A Composites USA’s booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Both FiberMate product samples and literature will be available to show-goers. Recyclable FiberMate is comprised of wood fiber that is manufactured into a high-density fiberboard available in the 3.2mm thickness. FiberMate graphic display boards are finished with Eco-Finish™—a white, water-based UV print coating on both sides. FiberMate’s Eco-Finish is designed to provide excellent ink and paint adhesion on both sides of this graphic display board, enabling double-sided printing and other double-sided finishing applications.
FiberMate can be recycled in either “wood” or “paper” waste streams depending on local community resources and providing that printing inks and/or mounting or other finishing materials applied to the media also are recyclable. FiberMate with Eco-Finish is CARB (California Air Resource Board) compliant.
FiberMate is stocked in 49-inch-by-97-inch sheets in the 3.2mm thickness. Agfa Graphics: Booth #2059
Agfa will be showcasing a number of printers. The :Anapurna M2540 FB (pictured) is an entry-level, high-speed flatbed, UV-curable inkjet printer. The :Anapurna M2540 FB provides high-quality printing on a wide variety of indoor, outdoor, and uncoated rigid media such as corrugated boards, rigid plastics, Plexiglass, exhibition panels, wood, aluminum, MDF, and more. It addresses the growing demand for niche output, such as promotional goods and gifts. The field-upgradeable :Jeti 3020 Titan will also be shown, which is a high-production, high resolution, hybrid inkjet printer designed with a modular format. Users can start with a base configuration of sixteen heads and upgrade all the way to 48 heads achieving over 2,400 sq. ft. per hour and adding light magenta, light cyan, or white ink to the configuration. Arlon Graphics will feature several new digital removable and wall wrap films for interior and exterior use. The removable products include DPF 4300, DPF 206, and DPF 50WD Clear and White. In addition, the company will have daily vehicle wrap demos using DPF 6000XRP and wall wrap demos using Arlon’s exterior wall graphic films featuring DPF 8000 and DPF 6700.
Caldera: Booth #2271
Wide format software developer Caldera will reveal the latest version of its comprehensive workflow solution, Flow+ 1.6. Flow+ 1.6 boasts major enhancements to the quoting system and customer relationship management and user interface, as well as a number of new tools and a faster processing engine. The Flow+ team has been working to improve and fine-tune Caldera’s flagship workflow software based on customer feedback and believes the additional functionality in the latest version offers one of the most comprehensive solutions available to the industry in a sleek and updated interface. Improvements in the quoting system include a more flexible quotation builder, designed to assist companies implementing an MIS for the first time by allowing the creation of quotes with a free text field. This will enable sales teams to learn and adjust to the Flow+ system more gradually, whilst also making for a smoother and quicker integration. In addition, the quoting wizard has been enhanced, meaning that groups of finishing processes can be added to a job. For example, a “Banner Finishing” group could contain “pocket sewing” and “eyelet positioning,” helping to prevent work being done without being invoiced. The CRM module has also benefited from a number of improvements, including better filtering of customer information to help the sales team identify existing clients and leads to be followed up. A list of pending quotes can be called up easily and also exported in a Microsoft Excel format for sales team meetings. Information filtering options have been extended throughout Flow+, putting the right information in the user’s hands when they need it.
A host of new tools have been introduced for Flow+ 1.6 to make planning resources and monitoring production even more intuitive. The daily inventory report can now be exported for analysis, as can overviews on production load, showing how many of which types of job have been scheduled, filtered by device. Similarly, a Job Life Cycle report summarizes a job from start to finish and helps production managers identify potential efficiency savings. A further new reporting tool offers the ability to track the amount of time a job spends in pre-press, helping pre-press managers improve productivity.
Another invaluable new tool is the Installation Planning feature, which helps users schedule installations for each job in the system. Deadlines can be set and sub-contractors assigned for each project, and jobs can be grouped together for improved efficiency.
conVerd: Booth #3467
conVerd will be the official substrate provider for the SGIA Expo. All of the show aisle signage and meter boards will be printed on conVerd Board 6mm. Incorporating 10 percent post consumer waste, conVerd Board is completely recyclable and renewable, while providing a price-comparable green alternative to foam and styrene based products. conVerd will also be partnering with Mutoh and Zund to deliver promotional products that will be printed and cut out during the show. Mutoh and Zund will be distributing hotel door hangers, promotional boxes, and other creative pieces all made with conVerd Board 3mm. Esko and conVerd are also partnering up to make creative handout pieces that show the ease of cutting customized shapes without crushing the corners of conVerd boards. Available in either opaque or translucent, Gemini’s Silver Chrome letters for Formed Plastic and GemLite letters are made using actual chrome film laminated to the company’s in-house manufactured sheets of recyclable CAB plastic. Letters are available in standard Formed typestyles or can be manufactured to customer specifications for the ultimate chrome finish in a deep dimensional letter. The maximum single piece available is 21-by-32-inch. The addition of LED lighting in Gemini’s GemLite products made with translucent Silver Chrome gives them a different day/night appearance. The latest products—VM-Harvest™32, VM-Luna™14, and VM-Monarch™22—add a natural warmth and luxurious feel to the in-store experience and are ideal for producing textured photo and artwork reproductions, wall murals, and fabric-based P-O-P signage. VM-Monarch22 and VM-Luna14 are made from 22- and 14-mil thick 100 percent post-consumer polyester, magnetic-receptive fabrics. VM-Monarch22 features a smooth, plain weave print surface intended for producing medium-resolution graphics. Alternatively VM-Luna14 has an ultra-smooth, poplin weave print surface, making it a more delicate option perfect for producing high-resolution graphics. VM-Harvest is a 32-mil (note: nominal thickness listed) 100 percent natural jute and natural rubber-based, magnetic-receptive, burlap fabric with a coarse-textured print surface for producing heavily textured graphics. All three products utilize Visual Magnetic’s proprietary print coat, providing compatibility with most digital and analog printing technologies. They also feature Visual Magnetics’ patented Micro-Iron™ back-coating, enabling displays to be effortlessly updated and easily installed, layered, transported, stored, or recycled.
