When you step up to the roulette table, you take a chance when you roll the dice. But when you step onto the show floor of the SGIA Expo, there are no risks involved—just the chance to boost your profits and increase your knowledge of the industry.
The Expo
From October 18-20, the SGIA Expo returns to the Las Vegas Convention Center. And the show promises to be bigger than ever. At press time, the attendance numbers were ahead of the 2010 Vegas numbers, and SGIA expects more than 20,000 imaging professionals to descend on Las Vegas for the show.
Aside from the expo floor packed with exhibitor booths and the education sessions packed with valuable information, there will be a number of new events and opportunities for 2012 that attendees should check out:
Color Management Zone: SGIA’s newest zone will highlight the most innovative color management tools and techniques, as well as RIP and third party software solutions in free sessions presented by industry color experts. After the presentations, attendees are invited to visit the “Ask the Color Expert” stand to discuss possible solutions to unique color obstacles with the experts.
Photo Imaging Pavilion: Manufacturers serving the photo imaging community will set up shop on the show floor to showcase the wide format opportunities available for photographers and photo imagers.
Printed Electronic & Membrane Switch Symposium: The Symposium has joined the Expo, allowing attendees to see everything in one place. Information about the community’s latest technology developments, advanced production methods, and innovative printed electronics and membrane switch manufacturing processes will all be available. Attendees will also have the chance to learn
about imaging techniques for electronics, UV-LED curing, solar cells, inkjet inroads in printed electronics, and more.
What Happens in Vegas….
Of course, no trip to Las Vegas should be all about work. Whether it’s your first time or fiftieth time in Sin City, Sondra Fry Benoudiz, Membership & Business Development, SGIA, has a few recommendations for where to go, what to eat, and who to see:
1. Bellagio Fountains
Who wouldn’t want to see an 8.5-acre lake shooting 460 feet of water in the air, every 15 minutes?
2. Cirque du Soleil
While the Expo is impressive, this show catapults people over the stage for your amusement. My personal favorite hands down is LOVE.
3. Downtown
More like old town. Take a stroll on Freemont St. for a little taste of Vegas history. You can also find some affordable eats on this side of town.
4. The Spa
It’s OK—you deserve a little R&R after walking the expansive Expo floor.
5. Delicious Dinner
Or breakfast. Either way, you can’t leave Vegas without eating on the strip. My personal favorite is sushi at Kabuki.
Enjoy the Expo and be sure to stop by and say hello to Sign Builder Illustrated in Booth #209!
