WHAT is the point of training?

Training is a process of increasing the knowledge and skills relating to a particular role or skill, but it also has wider benefits.  The process can include product updates; goals to improve capability, productivity and performance; and ways to enhance positive work behavior.

Everyone at every level can benefit from training, be it a one-off session or as part of an ongoing education program; when we stop learning, we stop growing!

WHY doesn’t everyone do it?

Misconceptions! People sometimes think of training as follows:

  • Only for those who are new to the industry and require an introduction and understanding of the fundamental elements of sign and print. False!
  • Only necessary for those who need an update or reminder of facts and processes—a refresher course for example—and not applicable to those with experience in the industry. False!
  • Just for small businesses, which are not as established or have fewer resources. False!

When the following is true:

  • Fact! Training has proven to be beneficial in multiple ways to industry veterans, as well as to those just joining the industry.
  • Fact! Training is the gift that keeps on giving. It encourages growth and ongoing development of skills and knowledge.
  • Fact! More and more large sign and print companies are adopting company-wide training programs for staff at all levels and gaining multiple benefits across their business as a result.
  • Bonus fact! Your ROI will thank you!

“The only thing worse than training your staff and having them leave is not training them and having them stay.” —Henry Ford

Sam Armstrong, Wendy Graves, and Mike Lev.

HOW does it benefit?

The benefits of training include the opportunity to enhance skillsets, improve knowledge, and keep current with industry patterns and trends. Training also provides the opportunity for peer interaction, sharing of ideas and knowledge, and generally encourages positive interaction.

Training is proven to enhance morale, improve client interactions and promote motivation, which results in business-critical improvements that can positively impact revenue and profitability.

Training is something for everyone at every level—there is always an opportunity to add, enhance or perfect. Never stop learning, never stop growing.
