It was a hard-fought victory, but Steve Hargittai of Florida Car Wrap emerged the winner in 3M’s inaugural Wrap2Wrap Battle at the 2014 SEMA Show.

Dueling head-to-head with William Chaney of Tidal Wave Graphics to showcase his skills with 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080, Hargittai created a head-turning look in just one day by designing a wrap for a 2015 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 and installing it with the help of 3M Preferred Graphics Installers.

Hargittai’s wrap was judged by a formidable panel of experts, including Rutledge Wood, co-host of “Top Gear”; Jessi Combs, host of “All Girls Garage”; Mike Forsythe of Vossen Wheels; David Zuckerberg of Rides Magazine; Ross Pisarkiewicz of Pirelli Tires; Phil Aquin of Knifeless Tech Systems; and Adam Sumner, a 3M Authorized Installation Trainer. The judges based their decision on criteria including the vision statement, uniqueness of the design, color choice(s), use of body lines, and overall look and appeal. Vossen Wheels, Pirelli Tires, Knifeless Tech Systems and 3M Auto Care were supporting partners in the competition, which drew entries from graphics installers around the country.

For his outstanding execution, Hargittai received a set of 20-inch Vossen flow forming technology wheels (VFS-1 or VFS-2), a set of Pirelli tires, and $1,000 cash, in addition to his all-expense-paid trip to the SEMA Show. Chaney didn’t go home empty-handed; in addition to his trip to SEMA, he received a set of 20” Vossen CV wheels (CV1-CV7 or CVT), a set of Pirelli tires, and $500 cash. Both finalists were selected after a series of three online knock-out rounds that included public voting to help determine who should advance to the head-to-head battle at SEMA.3MWinningWrap

“What Steve Hargittai and William Chaney were able to achieve in a single day with 3M™ Wrap Film Series 1080 was truly impressive,” said Doug Blackwell, Marketing Development manager, 3M. “Both of them can be proud of what they accomplished, and we hope this competition has inspired everyone who participated to continue pushing the limits with their wrap installations.”
