3M Commercial Graphics has made a number of updates to its 3M™ MCS™ Warranty to coincide with the new products in the graphics and printing market.
HP Latex Inks
3M announces that the newest ink offerings to qualify for the Warranty for finished graphics are HP LX610 and 792 Latex Inks. The new program will allow graphics manufacturers with HP Scitex LX Industrial Printers or HP Designjet L28500 and L26500 Printers who complete 3M’s certification process the opportunity to produce graphics backed by the 3M™ MCS™ Warranty. The warranty will be available on inks labeled as a 3M™ MCS™ Warranty Component starting in November 2012 for HP LX610 Latex Inks and in February 2013 for the HP 792 Latex Inks.
EFI Printers & Inks
The 3M™ MCS™ Warranty will soon be available for graphics produced on the EFI™ R3225 UV roll-to-roll printer using EFI R3225 3M™ UV Inks and select 3M media when printed and applied according to 3M technical literature. The 3M™ MCS™ Warranty covers defects in the appearance of outdoor finished graphics for up to four years, including discoloration, fading, cracking, peeling, and other defects that make the graphics unsuitable for their intended purpose. The warranty also allows for vehicle graphics to be covered for up to five years. These inks have a shelf life of 15 months.
In addition to the new warranty, the two companies are also working together on a new, highly flexible UV ink. “3M and EFI have been partners for more than twenty years,” said Bob Doughty, vice president of 3M Commercial Graphics. “We are excited about this future for UV inks, and its potential to enable graphics manufacturers to more easily use them for challenging applications like car wraps.”
