Materials innovation company Visual Magnetics® announced that the cellulose based material used in the production of magnetic receptive print substrate VM-ECOten has achieved two official environmental certifications.
Last month the cellulose base used in VM-ECOten was awarded GREENGUARD Gold Certification, officially designating the material as acceptable for use in educational and healthcare environments. Achieving this certification means the material reduces indoor air pollution and the risk of chemical exposure. This certification features safety factors to account for sensitive individuals such as the elderly and children, provides assurance a material meets some of the world’s most stringent indoor air quality standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and indicates that a material has been screened for over 10,000 chemicals. Using GREENGUARD Gold Certified products is becoming more and more important for architects and designers to ensure they create healthier educational, healthcare, office and home environments.
The cellulose base material in VM-ECOten has also been FSC certified, meeting the official standards established by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC). FSC has earned an international reputation as the most rigorous, credible certification system to ensure cellulose based products are produced using sustainable practices from tree to post-consumer processes. Visual Magnetics also offers other products made from FSC certified base material including VM-Maple™12, VM-Oak™12 and VM-Walnut™12 from their Digital Veneers™ Collection.
“Achieving these certifications demonstrates Visual Magnetics’ commitment to providing products that are not only high-quality, but also environmentally responsible and sustainable,” said Joe Deetz, CEO of Visual Magnetics. “These certifications play a key role in continuing our efforts to create a more sustainable environment for future generations.”
Visual Magnetics will be featuring VM-ECOten — a candidate for SGIA’s 2013 Product of the Year— at the 2013 SGIA Expo alongside its other products, including VM-Walnut12 and VM-ActiveWall® Micro-Iron® wall primer, which have also been nominated for Product of the Year awards. Visual Magnetics will be showcasing their materials at Booth #1412 and will be premiering live transformations of the entire booth front for SGIA attendees. SGIA 2013 will take place October 23-25, in Orlando, FL.
