The city of Wichita Falls, Texas, has asked that Daktronics Inc. of Brookings, S.D., design, manufacture, and install a new centerhung video display for their city event center, the Wichita Falls Multi-Purpose Events Center, also known as the “MPEC.”
“We are looking forward to this much-needed addition to the Kay Yeager Coliseum,” said Robert J. Sullivan CFE, MPEC Executive Director. “This state-of-the-art technology will allow us to continue to be competitive in the venue marketplace while also giving our patrons a better experience at events. Daktronics has long been an industry leader in scoreboard technology and it was an easy decision to have them manufacture and install a new video display unit in our Coliseum.”
The four sides of the centerhung video display will each be approximately 9 feet high-by-16.5 feet wide and will incorporate 10 millimeter line spacing. These displays will incorporate excellent image clarity and contrast with wide angle visibility. They will be capable of showing one large image, such as live video, and can also be divided into separate windows to show a variety of vivid graphics, colorful animations, up-to-the-minute statistics and sponsor advertisements.
To add to the four video displays, Wichita Falls has also decided to include a ring display with the centerhung that will measure approximately 2 feet high-by-57 feet wide and will feature 15 millimeter line spacing. This display will provide the opportunity to showcase sponsors throughout events and provide additional statistics and game information.
In addition to the equipment installation, the “MPEC” will also receive a bank of hours for the creation of digital content to be produced and delivered by Daktronics Creative Services, an award-winning in house creative team. This content will consist of any mixture of sponsorship messages, crowd prompts, headshots, game opens and venue announcements at the request of Wichita Falls.
“Daktronics is proud to partner with the city of Wichita Falls and the MPEC,” said Matt Braegelmann, Daktronics sales representative. “We’re excited to be a part of this project and can’t wait to see the new centerhung up and running.”
Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
